Hey all, I've learned a lot with sponsorship sales for PyCascades last
year, and now with Eloisa Tran chairing our sponsorship sales this year.

Wondering if there'd be interest in participating in training for groups
around the Python community?

For PyCascades, we were profitable as an org our first year. Eloisa joining
as our leader of sponsorship sales, we doubled, we may triple our gross
revenue.

One example tactic I can share ?

   1. Eight days before the conference meets on February 23, I sent out
reminder emails to past supporters of PuPPy, my group in Seattle
   2. The email copy was targeted to remind past supporters of PuPPy, we
are hosting PyCascades in Seattle this year
   3. Please alert their staff that we are approaching sell out
   4. Got 15 new registrations that totals in about $2000 in additional
   revenue
   5. A silver level sponsor for $8000

My goal would be to include as many concrete examples like this in the
training. Eloisa was trained by the Anita Borg Institute to lead
sponsorship sales for Grace Hopper Conference. She donated $250k to
numFOCUS running sponsorship sales for PyData Seattle 2017, with about 800
attendees.

Let me know. I'll collaborate with Eloisa to create curriculum to share
with everybody.

What does everybody think?

Awesome. Goal will be to keep the curriculum on actionable tactics.

Like how I learned Y Combinator founders were using Streak CRM in Gmail for
their investor fundraising.

Hi Don and all,

IndyPy (as well as our other group, IndyAWS) would absolutely be interested in participating in these training sessions. We?d love to know how to grow our sponsorships and utilize our meetup members more effectively.

Please count me in! This would be great information to have for both

I'd be interested in this as well. We've done well enough with PyTN the
past couple of years, but I'm sure there are we can do better.

Awesome everybody. Eloisa and I are getting ready for PyCascades. Looks
like we'll sell out our second year. First year we sold our goal of 390.
This year is 600.

Soon as we're clear and the BDFL retirement gift event with Guido, Anders
Hejlsberg, Larry Wall, and James Gosling, Eloisa and I will plan the
curriculum.

I am interested. I found the open spaces at PyCon last year held by organizers to be very helpful, and imagine that this would be an amazing benefit and boost to organizers. Our region has a dearth local tech companies (of significant size) that we can call upon, so we will have to look elsewhere geographically and to ?non-tech? sponsors locally (border region South Texas).

I'd love to discuss the challenges you have.

During PyCon, I'm putting on several events associated with my duty running
Startup Row.

I won't be able to run an Open Spaces on the topic.

Importantly, Eloisa has the training from AnitaBorg Institute. She's the
one that tripled our revenue this year. The class wouldn't benefit the
participants and much without Eloisa leading the training.
