Hi Minjae,

I am another student who want to take part in GSoC. My answer is not official, but I hope my experience may help you.

At least you should submit any code samples to show your ability of implementing the ideas. However, the requirements of the code sample varies from sub-orgs or even ideas. I suggest you to check up the ideas page of the corresponding sub-org. After that, I strongly suggest you to contact your potential mentor (mentioned in the ideas page) through the community of the sub-org (mailing lists, IRC, gitter, etc.) to confirm the requirements.

Best regards,

HUANG Hongye (Mr.)

Subject: [GSoC-general] I have a question for proposals

Hi, I’m MinJae Kwon from Ajou University in South Korea.

I have a question for your proposal forms. There is a section about “Code Sample”, does it means I need already the patch code for listed projects?. That is, If I don’t have any patch code yet, Can't I submit any proposals?
