[PYTHON IMAGE-SIG] Can PIL handle animated GIFs?

Can PIL handle animated GIFs in any fashion?  I'd like to be able to
manipulate individual images in the file.  If not, how hard would it be to
add?  Any pointers appreciated.  (I'm willing to attempt it, but am
completely unfamiliar with the code.)
