we are talking about binary packages provided for Debian Linux and
Debian hurd distributions. But you can generalize the situation to
installations, where you don't want or cannot recompile or reinstall
Tcl and Python.

3) use the Tcl load extension to load the one PIL command. (does not
has the two disadvantages above).
But has the disadvantage that Tcl is set up correctly to handle
autoloading of packages.
