This SIG is for the independent developer/end user community and is not
moderated (though it is sometimes watched) by Secret Labs, the developer of
PIL. If you are looking for 'a vendor' you need to correspond with Secret
Labs directly via the www.pythonware.org website.

The Python Imaging Library is written in Python and will therefore install
on all platforms that host Python. See the www.python.org site. It
compliments all applications developed in Python such as Zope ( www.zope.com
www.zope.org ).

It is an imaging library which means it is a library of tools for
converting, manipulating and displaying images in the context of a Python /
Zope / other RDB or server-based repository. Imaging tools work with
images, not audio or video.
Other Zope & Python products built on PIL manage the display and navigation
of image collections.

FWIW,
Gary

Subject: [Image-SIG] Python Imaging Library

> Dear sirs,
> We are looking for an imaging library for our conversion purposes. PIL
seems to be appropriate solution to us. However let us clear some additional
points on PIL :
> 1. Which platforms PIL support ? (Windows, Solaris,...)
> 2. What are media formats supported by PIL? Because we require conversion
between image formats(jpeg, gif,...), audio formats(mp3, amr,...) and media
formats(mpeg,...)Could you clarify the PIL supported formats?
> 3. Which languages support usage of PIL? To develop our own conversion
application, what is the best language to use PIL?
