[Image-SIG] Support of RGB 16 bits images

Hello,
We need to load/save RGB images in more than 8 bits and up to 16bits.
We use to work with TIFF, PNG, BMP, ...

Is there a plan to support such RGB bitwidth (and so associated file format) ?
