Sorry for the cross posting on such a large number of lists but this is
something that needs India wide viewrship and there's no single list
that does that. Also, it would be nice if people could continue follow
up discussions on the inpycon list since that's a broad cross section of
all these lists. 

This is a little late coming but better late than never. 

As many of you probably know, there is a python.org.in website now which
has a rather ambitious goal of being an umbrella for the entire Python
community in India. It is funded by the IPSS. The idea is to provide a
subdomain named after a city (e.g. bangalore.python.org.in) and give
privileges of that subdomain to a webmaster who can handle it. 

At the top level, there will be services which are relevant India wide
like a job board (details undecided) and an India wide planet RSS
aggregator. Anand C., Krace, Dhananjay and others have done some work
already on the main site and various subdomains. 

I think there's potential but we need to take small firm steps rather
than wild ones if we want to see this grow and help the Python
community in India. 

I'm proposing a meeting on IRC #python-india on freenode this Wednesday
(9 January 2013) at (say) 2030 in the evening. We can beat out the
details, try to formalise what to do and get down to doing it. 

Do reply on inpycon and let's decide the time and date of the meeting.

Today I browsed the videos of pycon2012 in youtube and found that some
videos are titled with just numbers like '00068', '00075' etc. which
doesn't say very much about the content. Can the account holder or some one
having the information please provide actual titles to them?

Pycon India 2013 website (url :http://in.pycon.org/2013/) is up and running now. It is just a basic site and we will improve it as we go on. Thanks to Anand C for getting website up and live.

Next Steps will be to create sponsorship brochures and to decide on the dates for CFP, will start discussion on separate thread for the same.

I think we can keep a premium rate of Rs. 4L for Platinum. We may have to
give some more benefits to platinum to justify the cost. Better visibility
during keynote/talks?

Also, we've discussed earlier about giving 50% discount on sponsorship
amount for startups. This was the idea taken from US PyCon to promote
participation of startups/small organizations. I think we can limit this
offer to companies with less than 10 employees. Comments?

I don't think we need to mention the number of slots available.

We should allow this. We may impose restrictions. But if we are unable to
enforce it then restrictions are of no value.

Suggest that, we  bundle Platinum sponsor's promotion material along with
the swag kit. Other's may do it on their own in their stalls.

My thinking was different. By offering tutorial session instead of a
conference session, we do not end up imposing the sponsor's lecture on the
community.

I'm against selling tutorial slots. We could keep one talk slot for a
sponsor and announce it like that but I feel we should have complete
control over tutorials. 



Also, a general point, we should all decide what all we put in the
sponsorship brochure and then either
1. All stick to it completely so that there are no embarassing questions
   or similar situations. 

or 

2. Have *all* sponsor negotiations go through a single person who can,
   if he deems fit, make adjustments to the privileges or prices. 

It's a bad situation when someone makes a promise and someone else has
to go back on it because of a miscommunication.

There should be enough time to review and the speakers should get enough
time in advance to confirm if they can present on the given day or not. I
remember many speakers were not able to present their sessions in the last
PyCon.
