Fonting 2. I think the "I" of INDIA is better done at same proportion of rest of the letters of "INDIA". 3. Is it just me or does the "C" of PyCon look a bit odd ? Motif 1. Parachutes - Pls remove the floating parachutes of Python taking off. They make the logo ugly. 2. Clouds - Double clouds floating a level above others. Make them all at same level possibly ? 3. Color gradient - I think this will look better if the gradient is steeper i.e the bottom blue is more brighter than now. Remove the whiteness a bit. Now the White fonts look a bit dull against the background. 4. Flowers - I think these don't fit the theme. Possibly replace with fireworks in the sky ? 5. Bottom - The pattern is too flowery. Also think of putting a small gap between the Earth and the bottom pattern. Otherwise looks good. > > -- Regards Kracekumar Ramaraju http://kracekumar.com +91 85530 > 29521 > > > _______________________________________________ Inpycon mailing > list Inpycon at python.org > https://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/inpycon > - -- Regards, - --Anand - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Software Architect/Consultant anandpillai at letterboxes.org Cell: +919880078014 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJUribpAAoJEHKU2n17CpvDrl0H/2CNrBeJdr4aJmFj4guoGOQj ZcU4iRud5QymNm4dN+MSBiEKh+O/L4KrZM4y3gYu3wf/6JFjI+redOrgoS1f0G6e 3WuhbIfCRawVvgXKqOTLZFW1wJcL7wLNHEA75J3FNnxZHfzAE626LsJzuVfwPp+i n7H4j7oXPe9yW0s51sxkUv57F1kfUGXgqn2+7gskJRC8DqHtXdf/ldag9oknYopv mCaj6FOMjqgqz9X1O4MTQZcq2wML9oTDcCr5BVGZIglpRqJ/VeZxSfZ3Wokr9Gt9 2opA2FfrLtWRTK8TS+EYwTEC7FsdlREraND9f+6Bz0FYYtBI5e1d2mdX+cJpE1I= =B2s5 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- From abhi.alwandi at gmail.com Thu Jan 8 07:57:58 2015 From: abhi.alwandi at gmail.com (abhilash alwandi) Date: Thu, 8 Jan 2015 12:27:58 +0530 Subject: [Inpycon] PyCon India 2015 Logo work In-Reply-To: <54AE26E9.7000208@letterboxes.org> References: <54AE26E9.7000208@letterboxes.org> Message-ID: Hi All, I am not aware of the theme or caption behind this logo. The sponsorship amount was raised by 1L for all the slabs in 2014. It means the silver is up by 100%, gold by 50% and platinum by 25%. I've even sent a mail earlier pointing that[1]. I strongly recommend to reconsider that. IMHO, we should encourage more companies to have their presence at PyCon India. Lowering the sponsorship slabs is a step in the right direction. For comparison, the silver sponsorship amount of US PyCon and proposed amount for PyCon India are almost the same. PyCon Singapore is 4x cheaper[3]. One of the issues we have to address here is that, the pages need to be generated and pushed to github. This need to be done each time a new post is added. We can try to automate it. The main advantage is that github is very good at hosting these sites and very much optimized for the purpose. We dont need to maintain the whole infrastructure for it. We can use the machines available for other dynamic sites like http://python.org.in/wiki/. I had built a small tool to build the static site on git push and used it for bangalore.python.org.in and python.org.in website. https://github.com/anandology/pipages Except from hosting a site on a server in india, it doesn't have any other benefits compared to github-pages. +1 for github-pages. While they work great in general, I've seen a drop in performance at high load. When one of my blog posts made it to page 1 of hacker news, I had 10K+ visitors in a day and things were a bit slow. I'm considering moving high traffic sites over to run on Amazon S3/Cloudfront with a Wercker job to push things automatically. I suspect github should work for most of the static sites, but for the conference pages which may see spikes around when pycon happens, you may want to consider E2E since their latency is hard to beat where the audience is primarily in India. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... There was a plan to move in.pycon.org website to PSSI servers. I think I suggested that an year back, but never got a chance to finish that. In addition to the in.pycon.org website, I also host the mail server for in.pycon.org. I'm planning to work on it soon and here is the plan that I've in mind. * Setup mail server on new node. - Krace? * Setup http server on new node serving in.pycon.org and proxy all requests to current in.pycon.org IP address (see dig in.pycon.org for IP) - Krace? * Change the IP address of in.pycon.org to the new server[1] - Anand * Take static dump of 2011-2014 events and funnel [2]. - Anand * Setup the webserver to serve 2010-2014 pages from static dump. - Krace? Notes: [1] - in.pycon.org was setup a CNAME to pycon.anandology.com so that we can change IP without having to bug PSF folks. Feel free to change that if that is an issue. [2]: static dump of 2010 website is already taken. Please let me know if you see any issues or have any suggestions for improvements.
