The payment by sponsors is a way for companies to give back to the
community for using free and open source software (even without
releasing their changes upstream).

Community projects exist for a reason and they should be given a place
to get more contributors.

LinuxTag, for example, have stalls for both commercial and community
projects, and they are clearly demarcated.
