It still says it is 0.2.15.pre5, I guess that is just a version string 
somewhere.

Also, installing from CVS appears to have blown away my html manual. 
Now when I try to open it Windows says it is searching for it.

I worry a tiny bit about the trick of saving the old sys.eventhook and 
restoring it (same as I did). If for some reason we don't get to 
restore it, then it will never get restored (because the wrong one will 
then be the old one from then on). There appears to be only 1 that 
IPython uses. We could always restore it. Thus if things went wrong, 
they'd be fixed after the next command.

May not be worth worrying about. I don't think we come back by any road 
except that restore code...
