[IPython-dev] Fwd: Patches to use pydb instead of pdb for debugging

Hi all,

given the recent collaboration with the pydb project, which will
appear in ipython's next release, the email below may be of interest
to IPython users.

Pydb is an improved python debugger, useable in its own right, but
which is seeing better integration with IPython thanks to work by its
author and Ville. Big thanks to both for this work!

Hi Fernando. Just a quick mail for you - Rocky has recorded a pydb
introduction for us (centre, in gold):

Perhaps you'll want to mention it in the IPython threads? I know that
pydb isn't integral to IPython yet, but this might be quite informative to
interested users on the dev lists? He walks through using pydb to solve a
debugging problem, it is a rather nice video.

Also, in my latest two-part series introducing on-line resources for
Python newbies:
I mention IPython, along with matplotlib, TurboGears, Django and wxPython
as 'established projects to check out'. These are all projects that I'm
involved with, I figured newbies could do with a pointer in the right
direction :-)
