Please have a go at this.  I think I'll be very non-responsive for a
few days, unfortunately (scipy is looming large).  Hopefully the rest
of the gang can pitch in a bit.

But a pounding on everything would be welcome, in particular anyone
who can see if that windows installer does anything remotely sensible
would be great.  I have no vmware right now, and it may well be
putting the docs in the wrong place (or not at all), or worse.  And
I'm too fried to fix any more code right now.  I hate distutils, with
a vicious, depraved, passion.
