Of course, though I think there should be no need for that. If the
restructuring kills the freeform magic argument lists, it would need
a redesign before it makes the architecture too rigid.

It's not special casing as far as code/architecture goes, it's special
casing as far as interactive usage goes (which is not a sin). User
interfaces are all about special cases like that.
