No, I don't see this at all, no matter how I run the suite.  But Ville
reported seeing very few tests when he updated one of his branches, I
wonder if these are related.

Perhaps you could try to use the --pdb-failures option to debug it a
little to collect more info?  I'm quite puzzled...
