Hi folks,

We've just been on github for a little over a year, and we already
have crossed the 1000 issues threshold!

https://github.com/ipython/ipython/issues/1000

Thomas filed this yesterday, and that makes him the proud winner of a
couple of t-shirts :) We unfortunately don't have nice
IPython-specific schwag, but Jarrod had some T-shirts from the US
Scipy 2009 conference and the Scipy India 2010 one left, and kindly
donated them to me, so I'm using that.

It's clear that the smooth, low-friction workflow provided by github
has made us a lot more productive, since despite having over 1000
issues filed, we've managed to hover with O(200) open ones and O(10)
open PRs. This means it's not just a pileup of open bugs but a live
pipeline where a lot of things do get closed. Ideally our open issues
number would be closer to ~50 (it's unrealistic to expect it to drop
to 0), but as long as it doesn't spin out of control, we're OK.

Cheers,

f
