From the support on webfaction (i pointed him to this topic) :
From this mailing list question, it looks like you're trying to use WebSockets. The front-end Nginx proxy won't support that, but we can add a free "second shared IP address" to your account and on this IP we can open your custom application port. Then, your application can communicate directly over the internet without a proxy (Nginx).
Would you like us to add this IP at this time?
