[IPython-dev] switching between iframes with static widgets?

I was wondering if it is possible to use static html widgets to switch
between iframes, so as to create a sort of interactive image viewer?

Emphasis is on static and iframe (or otherwise non-embedded); I want this
to work off line (e.g. via nbviewer), and don't want to be creating huge
notebooks with multiple embedded images.

Example gist of what I have in mind here
