One last thing that might be worth mentioning -

"I prefer that environment. Ms
Office is much more powerful than trying to do things with tkinter or wx."

One thing I know can be done (I've witnessed it done interactively) is
invoking Windows Forms through IronPython.  If you want a nice GUI, this can
be done natively with the language of your choice.
