From 913390 at bugs.launchpad.net Sun Jan 8 12:41:47 2012 From: 913390 at bugs.launchpad.net (Steven Kelly) Date: Sun, 08 Jan 2012 11:41:47 -0000 Subject: [Bug 913390] [NEW] Finnish translation refers to wrong moderation actions References: <20120108114147.28706.98672.malonedeb@gac.canonical.com> Message-ID: <20120108114147.28706.98672.malonedeb@gac.canonical.com> Public bug reported: Some field labels in the Finnish UI refer to the wrong moderation actions: English: "Discard all messages marked Defer" Finnish: "Hylk?? kaikki viestit jotka ovat merkitty Poistettavaksi (Defer)" <- The 'Defer' button is translated as 'Lykk??', not 'Poista' Correct: "Hylk?? kaikki Lyk?tt?viksi merkityt viestit" English: "If you Reject this message, explain why" Finnish: "Jos hylk??t t?m?n viestin, selit? miksi" <- The 'Reject' button is translated as 'Torju', not 'Hylk??' Correct: "Jos Torjut t?m?n viestin, selit? miksi" The capitalization of the moderation action verbs within the text is optional - somewhat alien in Finnish, but makes the association to the button actions clearer. The root problem here is probably that the chosen translations of the moderation actions is poor: the obvious translation of Reject is Hylk??, not Torju. Similarly Discard could be translated as Poista. Changing the translations like that would end up with the meaning of Hylk?? in the UI changing, which would be confusing for users, so maybe Lykk??, Hyv?ksy, Torju, Poista would be a sensible compromise. In that case the first message above becomes "Poista kaikki Lyk?tt?viksi merkityt viestit". ** Affects: mailman Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Mailman Coders, which is subscribed to GNU Mailman. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/913390 Title: Finnish translation refers to wrong moderation actions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mailman/+bug/913390/+subscriptions From chip at aresti.com Sat Jan 21 02:27:38 2012 From: chip at aresti.com (Chip Davis) Date: Sat, 21 Jan 2012 01:27:38 -0000 Subject: [Bug 919479] [NEW] incorrect example in List Administration Manual 2.1 References: <20120121012738.32546.93789.malonedeb@soybean.canonical.com> Message-ID: <20120121012738.32546.93789.malonedeb@soybean.canonical.com> Public bug reported: In the "GNU Mailman - List Administration Manual Release 2.1", under: 2 The List Configuration Pages + 2.1 The General Options Category + 2.1.1 General list personality + real_name "The real name can differ from the posting name by case only.
