So far I've kept both postfix and sendmail running. initially I was running
postfix on port other than 25 and sendmail on 25. Now I've switched to a
point where postfix handle my inbound and outbound mail (port 25) and
running sendmail on port 587.

The switch was painless, besides that I had to familiarize myself with
postfix. The aliases, virtual maps, etc, are all compatible.

Why do I keep sendmail around? Well, the new version is about the come out
(8.12) and there are promises for better performance and more
functionality. I would like to test this latest release of sendmail before
I say good bay......

So far my vote is for postfix: easy to setup, easy to maintain, easy to
upgrade, etc.....
