After a quick googling, it seems like Postfix supports VERP just
fine, at least http://www.postfix.org/smtpd.8.html says:

      default_verp_delimiters
              The default VERP delimiter characters that are used
              when   the   XVERP  command  is  specified  without
              explicit delimiters.    
[snip]
       verp_delimiter_filter
              The characters that Postfix accepts as VERP  delim-
              iter characters.
