Initial Comment:
When I run the "arch" utility to rebuild my archives,
it prints out loads of "figuring article archives",
which is somewhat confusing to the new user.  Would it
be possible to have a more sensible status report so
that people aren't confused when they rebuild a large
archive?

I don't plan on fixing this, although I would accept a

What's confusing about these messages?  Is it just the sheer
volume of output that bothers you?
