[Mailman-Developers] suppressing appending of generic welcome message

when sending welcome messages to new subscribees I need a way to
suppress the automatically appended

for some lists.

I need this because the mail list (web) server is on an internal network.
However, I'd like to make some lists available to the public (via email only).

Is there currently a way to accompish that ?
