[Mailman-Developers] Replacing the abomination Pipermail with Lurker

Recently I investigated the current state of mailing list archivers and
stumbled upon Lurker (lurker.sourceforge.net).  Simply put, Lurker is to
Pipermail as spaceships are to ice-skates.

Has any consideration been given to tossing Pipermail as the default archiver
and replacing it with something like Lurker?

Has anyone managed to bang the mailman archive authentication over Lurker for
private lists?
