[Mailman-Users] unknown mailer error 1 failures

We're using:

mailman-1.1
python-1.5.2
Solaris 2.6
sendmail-8.9.3

Sometime during mass subscriptions, we get bounces to postmaster about
'unknown mailer error 1' delivery failures, like that included below.

A few of questions about this...

Does anyone know for certain what is the cause of these 'unknown' failures
from sendmail?  Does it likely have to do with the smtp server refusing
connections due to the sudden load generated by a lot of messages during a
mass subscribe?  The only reason I suspect this is that I can only
correlate these errors to times when a mass subscribe is being done.

Is there any simple way to make these bounces go to mailman-owner rather
than to postmaster?

Is this something that has likely been fixed in mailman-2.0beta?
