Unrelated though, I was looking at a situation like yours but with Exim.
I haven't pursued it to completion. In fact I haven't even started, but I
did finf the following notes by Barry which I hope can point you in the
right direction:

It would (IMO) appear that the setup would be a lot easier if you virtualised
everything, even your primary domain, because then everything is at the same
level.
