[Mailman-Users] Mailing list to news gateway: why does MailMan re-write the message-id

MM2.0.12, FreeBSD Port. 

Why when an article is gatewayed from an EZMLM list to news to a MailMan
list does MailMan re-write the Message-ID? 

It makes keeping threads together by the References: header
problematical. 

Also, does 2.1b3 do this better?
