Demime / stripmime etc. will strip PGP/MIME sigs but won't strip
traditional (clearsigned) messages.

I believe this is probably the behavior you want.

Given the fact that most MUAs do not support PGP/MIME and many can't
read PGP/MIME messages at all, I don't think that demiming this type of
attachment is a bad idea at all.
