You would think. But many HTML authoring tools (including
browsers and MUAs that create HTML-formatted e-mail messages) make it
more complex than that. The stuff right above the </body> tag may
not be anywhere close to the bottom of the page as it is viewed by
the recipient. Or, it may be hidden by a change in font or font
color, or who knows what else.
You really do have to be able to parse all the HTML pretty much perfectly.
