You have several choices. I think the easiest is to just change the
httpd.conf, but you might also consider rerunning configure with
--with-var-prefix=/var/lib/mailman and then make install.

In any case, you now have split archives. You can put them back
together list by list by concatenating the two files
/var/lib/mailman/archives/private/listname.mbox/listname.mbox and
/usr/lib/mailman/archives/private/listname.mbox/listname.mbox into one
in the current archive location and then running "bin/arch --wipe
listname" to rebuild the pipermail archive from the combined mbox.
