This is squarely on gmail. Mailman is blameless on this one.
It's my understanding there may be another few web mail services with
similar issues.
I know that Hotmail is really bad about sending HTML only e-mails
instead of multipart mixed with a plain-text version. This caused a
great amount of frustration for one of my users until I was able to
deduce just what was going on.
