The original permissions were like this:
drwxrwsr-x 2 root list 4096 Feb 22 12:45 .
drwxrwsr-x 8 root list 4096 Feb 13 2014 ..
-rw-rw---- 1 root list 2928 Feb 22 12:45 aliases
-rw-r----- 1 root list 12288 Jan 29 18:55 aliases.db
-rw-r----- 1 root list 41 Feb 22 12:44 creator.pw
-rw-rw-r-- 1 root list 10 Feb 13 2014 last_mailman_version
-rw-r--r-- 1 root list 14100 Jun 16 2012 sitelist.cfg
-rw-rw---- 1 www-data list 2006 Feb 22 12:45 virtual-mailman
-rw-r----- 1 root list 12288 Jan 29 18:55 virtual-mailman.db

I ran `chmod 660 aliases.db virtual-mailman.db` so they are now both "-rw-rw----".
I sent a message to the newly created list and received a bounce reply:

                   The mail system

<newlist at myOtherDomain.com> (expanded from
<newlist at lists.myDomain.com>): unknown user: "newlist"
Final-Recipient: rfc822; newlist at myOtherDomain.com
Original-Recipient: rfc822;newlist at lists.myDomain.com
Action: failed
Status: 5.1.1
Diagnostic-Code: X-Postfix; unknown user: "newlist"

So something is still amiss. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Kevin
