Hello, folks!
Welcome all technical writers interested in participating in Google Season
of Docs 2023 with Matplotlib.
Now that Matplotlib has been selected as an organization to participate in
GSoD, we will follow the steps outlined in the Technical Writer guide by
Google. This means each technical writer should submit a Statement of
Interest at some point with a proposed work plan for the project we are
interested in (indexing the Matplotlib examples gallery).
While the hiring deadline for technical writers is May 10, we might decide
on who to hire before then. Submitting your statement of interest sooner,
rather than later, is a good idea - but that doesn't mean you need to do it
now. I would recommend you to plan on writing your statement of interest by
the end of next week (April 14). Feel free to ask questions, talk about
your proposed ideas and background and make sure you understand the project
well - for this, I would recommend joining our gitter room (
https://matrix.to/#/#mpl-gsod:gitter.im). For the final statement of
interest you can follow the Google template:
https://developers.google.com/season-of-docs/docs/tech-writer-statement
**You can submit your final statement of interest to
matplotlib-gsod at googlegroups.com**
Please note we will not provide direct feedback on your statement of
interest - that is what we expect you to do as part of your proposal.
Good luck!
- Melissa
