[MATRIX-SIG] Numeric and LinearAlgebra on 64bit machines

No idea about the DEC, but on a 64-bit SGI the result is the following:

LinearAlgebraError: Eigenvalues did not converge

So there might indeed be some problem. On the other hand, I have had
so much trouble with SGI compilers already that I wouldn't exclude
another compiler-induced problem again.
