do you have a 'bind' or /etc/hosts file? can you run 'host
hellatrix.atares.it' and get a valid response?

does the problem go away if you change this to the ipaddress of the machine?
is the machine behind a dialup connection?

hmm.. maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree, but this really seems like a DNS
problem to me.
