[Neuroimaging] MRF segmentation on a single-band image

Hi,

I've installed nipy to try out the MRF segmentation included with it. The
issue for me is that my dataset contains images with a single-band
(gray-level in float), which are not really medical images (remote sensing
images instead).

I was wondering why the Segmentation algorithm works only with images with
3 or 4 bands?
I'm alluding to this line in the source-code:
https://github.com/nipy/nipy/blob/628ad8dc41dc0d0a113dcf59ee5921348377b942/nipy/algorithms/segmentation/segmentation.py#L47

Thanks.

Hakim.
