[New-bugs-announce] [issue24118] http.client example is no longer valid

Steven D'Aprano report at bugs.python.org
Sun May 3 16:39:28 CEST 2015

New submission from Steven D'Aprano:

The example code for http.client shows www.python.org/parrot.spam return a 404:

>>> # Example of an invalid request
>>> conn.request("GET", "/parrot.spam")
>>> r2 = conn.getresponse()
>>> print(r2.status, r2.reason)
404 Not Found

However it no longer does that, instead it returns a 301 Moved Permanently.
