I agree completely. In addition, there is compatibilty: lots of code
out there uses the FFT and LinearAlgebra interfaces that have been part
of Numeric for many years. numarray has them as well (it just requires
a change in the import statements).
While I like many aspects of your Numeric 3.0 project, I fear that it
will just create a third nearly-but-not-fully-compatible choice for an
array module.
