announced the first release of a beta version of ATLAS whose
configuration utility actually supports Core Duo, although probably only

By the way, everyone should also read the immediately previous message,
posted a few weeks earlier by Clint. gcc 4.x gives significantly worse
floating point performance than gcc 3.x on most x86 platforms.
Something to be aware of if you're benchmarking. He's communicated
about the problem to the gcc developers, but is, ah, less than confident
they'll fix the problem.
