I will try to do it at some time over the long weekend.  I was bitten
by the fact that the current convert-script changes anything that
resembles an old typecode such as 'b' regardless of context. (I was
unlucky to have database columns called 'b'!)  Fixing that is very
similar to the problem at hand.
