That is exactly the kind of use-case I had in mind.

In fact, you can use it now if you use a custom dtype to hold your row 
of data, rather than using a 2-d array.

Please do, and consider adding to and/or making suggestions to 
accumulator -- why should we all re-invent this wheel?

To be far, you can do what you need by accumulating in a python list, 
then making an array out of it when you are done -- and it will probably 
be faster, but *may* take more memory.
