Maybe a convention can voluntarily be adopted using a DEV or some such
subject prefix by the author when an author submits such a developer
oriented message. It wouldn't be perfect but could possibly aid in
scanning subjects of interest when pressed for time if the convention
became sufficiently adopted.

Possibly such a convention could be put into an FAQ on the website about
the mailing list. Also included in a welcome message to subscribers.

Just a thought.
