[Numpy-discussion] power function distribution or power-law distribution?

numpy.random.power.__doc__

uses only the term "power function distribution".

I cannot find a comparison between this term and
"power-law distribution" and am quite interested to know
if they are simply synonyms.

Any ideas?

BTW.  how is this list related to numpy-discussion at scipy.org?
