Hi all,

Just wanted to announce my availability to help man the booth. I will
be available both Weds and Thurs, pretty much anytime, just let me
know what you need.

On a side-note using a mailing list to gather volunteers seems a
little heavy-weight to me. I understand the desire to have a
discussion about this, but I would be concerned that folks that
otherwise would want to help may not feel compelled to sign up for a
list for such a short-term thing. Just my 2 cents.

You have a point; OTOH, I think most of those people probably don't want
to sign up for volunteering in advance.  I guess we can create a signup
sheet at OSCON for people who want to drop in for an hour or so.

I'm going to wait another day or two for people to subscribe before
starting the discussion -- the main task coming up is to provide O'Reilly
with the list of people who will get "exhibit staff" passes.  I have four
to hand out, but it's not clear what the pass provides; I already asked
whether it includes lunch, and it does not.

The booth comes with one "bar-style stool".  I can rent additional chairs
for $35/each.  Do people think I should rent zero, one, or two?

In the absence of consensus, I'll get one chair; I'm expecting at most
two volunteers per shift.  Plus we're currently set up next to the Wii
Lounge...

I've already gotten approval from the advocacy and PSF lists, but since
the volunteers here are the ones who will actually be handing out the
flyer, I figured y'all should have a chance to look at it before it goes
to the printer.  I'm only looking for text changes; if you want to
bikeshed the formatting or layout, I'll send you the .odg and it will
then be your responsibility to shepherd the process.  ;-)

I have four exhibitor passes to hand out.  I'm not sure what they get
you (O'Reilly has told me they don't include lunch), but I'll give one
each to the first four people who respond.  If you already have an OSCON
registration (or will get one), you do NOT need an exhibitor pass.
