Summary: makes doctest.testmod() to work

Initial Comment:
testmod() can now be called with no arguments, in 
which case it works on the current module. This is a 
big convenience for self-testing modules.

Assigned to me, and Postponed (2.2 is in feature freeze).  
When resurrected, will try to find Skip's old patch 
(email'ed?) for this and combine them.
