In addition to bugs or other issues with the site, one key problem was that we didn't have the facility to reasonably invite others to participate. We are close to getting that all set. We are migrating all the work to public repositories, we created a distributed ownership model for content, we opened up a public bug tracker (which I believe has been announced here, among other places), and soon we will have a public workflow that will allow everyone to work on the site together. It takes planning and support to create a distributed system that isn't frustrating... so I am working on that so we can transition to a model that invites open participation. In the mean time, this hasn't been closed. We have had three or four public working sessions, the most recent being at PyCon. We had a number of people participate, and it was in those sessions that we made the plan so that we could move to broader community ownership of parts of the site and figured out what would need to be done to support that kind of collaboration. Too abstract to me. If PSF can sponsor integration of PyPI with OpenID Connect - that would be a first step to distributed, non-frustrating system. Also, if you really want to make a workflow - don't try to make it and impose as some universal law - just remove the obstacles and people will make it themselves. > In the mean time, this hasn't been closed. Well, it can clarify the workflow if you can provide example of how "community ownership" decided to go with Apache 2 license, why the stack as it is now. It will also help if before acting you could run a poll to gather some data about site or at least give some concise report on the analysis. The forwarded email from the developer verifies that the input() function is not supported, meaning any programs requiring console input using input() will not work in this IDE. I believe that is significant and should be pointed out. The edit I suggest to the description of Exedore is as follows: Current description: Commercial with feature-limited free trial. A Mac-native, single-window IDE inspired by Xcode. Features integrated debugger, tabs, code completion with tab triggers, syntax highlighting themes, search and replace with regex, integrated REPL sessions, goto definition, file browser, integrated documentation browser. Add one sentence: As of June 2015, does not support input() meaning any console input using this function is not supported. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Celestial Teapot Support Date: Wed, Jun 10, 2015 at 9:22 AM Subject: Re: Couple of questions on Exedore To: John Fields Hi John, sorry, but input() is not currently supported, and I don't have any docs :( On Jun 9, 2015, at 8:48 PM, John Fields wrote: Hi, I have the latest version and purchased a license. Are there any additional instructions/notes I need to keep in mind whilst editing the wiki pages? We have these general guidelines: https://wiki.python.org/moin/WikiGuidelines and some more popular pages also have per-page guidelines, e.g. they require adding new entries to the end or the top of listings. If not, a quick look at the order used on the page will usually give you a good hint. If in doubt, please ask here. Hi! The best way is for you to create a Wiki editing account, which we can then activate; then you can add this yourself, and also edit anything else you notice needing editing. All we need is your Wiki user name, and we can give you editing privileges. Thank you for helping us help you help us all! The spam completely drowned out legitimate edits, exactly as per the original Spam Song from the other Pythons. But with just a modicum of human interaction, we've managed to get it down to just eggs, bacon, spam, and sausage, which doesn't have much spam in it... You're all set to make changes. It's sad that the spammers force us to this kind of thing, but at least it's a one-off - you should be able to make edits forever now.
