Hi,

I'd like to edit the PythonForArtificialIntelligence wiki to list a ML
platform that I've been working on called GraphLab Create:
https://dato.com/products/create/docs/

Can you grant me editing permission? Alternatively, I can send you the text
blurb and link if you will do the editing.

Thanks!

Hmm, that ought to be correct. I'm not in charge of the textchas
though, so I'll let someone else look into that.

Thanks! It's AliceZheng.

Also, I think there's a mistake in one of the textcha's.

s = 'guido'; s[3:5] ==

I answered 'do' (with quotes) and didn't pass the test. Is it erring on the
quotes?

Subject: [pydotorg-www] Switching pythondotorg Vagrant to Ansible
Message-ID: <550DA150.2020600@egenix.com>

Berker Peksag has been working on a patch to replace Chef for the Vagrant
setup on pythondorg (the config that is used for running a local instance
of the site) with Ansible.

Here's the patch:

https://github.com/python/pythondotorg/compare/master...berkerpeksag:switch-to-ansible

I'm very much in favor of this, since I find Chef to be far to complex
for a simple thing as a Vagrant VM. It would hopefully make it
easier to get new developers interested in helping with the
pythondotorg code base.

Anyone against this ?

Thanks,

FYI, as a followup to https://mail.python.org/pipermail//pydotorg-www/2013-July/002298.html, we have received a report on the pythondotorg issue tracker (https://github.com/python/pythondotorg/issues/718) that the link to the website results in a page with:

"We?re sorry. The shopping site you?re trying to access is no longer available."

As a result, I've edited the merchandise page to remove info about Elegant Stitches.

BTW, there is an open issue about the broken migration of the images on the merchandise page from the legacy site (https://github.com/python/pythondotorg/issues/586).

Thanks. Sounds right. The Trademarks Committee hasn't heard anything from
them, but I imagine they've gone out of business.

If the problem with their website is fixed, they can write us to request
re-listing.

When requests for wiki editorship hit this list, they're usually dealt
with fairly promptly, but according to the timestamps, some take a
while to get through. Is that because there aren't many list
moderators?

If so, I'm willing to help out, and I'm sure there are others who
will, too. The job doesn't have to land on one person.

I'm wondering: perhaps we could remove the moderation requirement
altogether ?!

We'd get a little more spam, but I think it's manageable.

As far as I know, I'm the only person processing moderated messages.
I don't think Peter deals with them. Largely the traffic is from
people requesting Wiki access, because they're usually not members of
the list, or it's spam.

IIRC, wasn't moderation introduced to the list for a reason? We could
just remove it, as long as people don't complain about the occasional
spam message that gets through.

This list is a bit unusual, in that it's more used for the general
public to alert a group of people than it's used for discussion
amongst that group of people. How many spam a day does it see? Would
it be enough to bother people?

How many spam messages do you see in moderation for this list ?

Perhaps we could just try to turn off moderation and then revisit
this in a month or so.

So let's try this. If we get too much spam, we can switch moderation
on again.
