I personally am too busy to do much but reply to odd inquiries that come through to webmaster at python.org (another list you are welcome to join, by the way), but I like to monitor the traffic here. When the site was rewritten some years ago it was the intention that it be much more open to community input, but sadly there don't appear to be many active maintainers now. It would be great to see that position change, and the site is implemented with fairly well-known technologies precisely to make technical contribution easier and more likely. The page you're looking at is aimed at beginners, so it should minimize the number of extra programs to be downloaded. Listing all the possible IDEs and toolkits would make this page completely unwieldy. However, there are other places on the wiki where these kinds of listings can be found, and you may want to consider mentioning Rodeo there instead. Thanks for your interest in the Python wiki! Looking at https://wiki.python.org/moin/BeginnersGuide/Programmers?action=info, it looks like they were in some sort of an edit race. I would declare an official stance that you get one link, but with the caveat that we're all only human - violations might not always be noticed immediately. (That's just to silence the "but Daaaaaad, you didn't spank Timmy when HE did that" complaint.) Once it's known that someone's put multiple sites in, we'll remove all but one, and possibly all. So, yeah, I'd remove the spares. If, as Guido says, they're trying to make money off free docs, I'd remove all those links. Hi Mark! It's not sufficient, true, but we try to be fairly responsive here at granting editor access to legit people. What happens when you try to sign up? Sometimes the server drags its feet for one reason or another, and one of the admins needs to kick it in the behind. > I was hoping to add a Python 3 compatible implementation of the proposed > 'irange' function (https://wiki.python.org/moin/RangeGenerator): > > If someone would be willing to edit this page for me I'd be grateful. > Unless, of course, this has already been implemented in Python 3, thus > making my effort pointless :) The default range object is most of this, except that it's reiterable rather than being a one-shot generator. You could probably do this: def irange(*args): return iter(range(*args)) The range object retains its endpoints, rather than creating all the integers up-front, so it has the efficiency needed for large ranges. If there's something that irange does and range doesn't, then feel free to describe that use-case on the wiki (once you manage to get an account).
