Emailing here based on https://wiki.python.org/moin/FrontPage#use.

I'm hoping to create a page under here
https://wiki.python.org/moin/Distutils/Cookbook distilling the answers from
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/1550226/python-setup-py-uninstall
there are many problems with stackoverflow, for example, editing it
requires downloading and running at least one proprietary javascript
program ( https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/javascript-trap.html ).

Message-ID: <91ad0e7b-fe5e-314c-c211-7a13fae6ff34@changeset.nyc>

Hi, colleagues!

Changeset Consulting (me & my coworkers) is kicking off some work on
adding material to python.org to communicate better about the upcoming
End of Life for Python 2.x. More about what we're doing:
https://www.harihareswara.net/sumana/2019/08/05/0

I'd like to keep our project roadmap, issues/TODOs, and milestones
within the https://github.com/python/pythondotorg/ repository, if that's
ok with you?

And pretty soon we'll be editing
https://wiki.python.org/moin/Python2orPython3 a lot and basically making
a version of that to go onto www.python.org . I want to make sure it
fits with the visual design & information architecture of the existing
site. So you will be seeing PRs/issues from me about that in the repo soon.

Thanks,
Sumana

I've now made that change at
https://wiki.python.org/moin/Python2orPython3 and will continue updating
it and relevant parts of the wiki (including some amount of deleting,
merging, etc.) throughout Changeset's work on the Python 2 sunsetting.

As a general matter of wiki-editing etiquette: I've read
https://wiki.python.org/moin/WikiGuidelines#Etiquette and understand and
appreciate the guidance. Since this is work I'm contracted with the PSF
to perform, I'm going to try to move reasonably speedily to remove
obsolete material; I figure it's available in the post's history if
people need to retrieve it to reference or reuse elsewhere. But if a
page is actively maintained, I will do what I can to contact page
maintainers so they know what I'm up to and we can collaborate.

Hello, l am a student majoring in computer science. I am applying to become an editor of Python wiki.
l have built two software with Python so far, one is a light-weight tool for file compression and decompression, and the other is related to the network. I have designed beautiful and easy-to-use GUIs for both of them with the power of tkinter.
Python wiki has helped me a lot during my learning process. l can share some useful and original demos with the community and offer some fixes to the existing wiki.
I have been promoting Python and its tkinter to my friends all the time. It would be great for me to be a part of it.

Hi Sam,

Thanks very much for your interest in the Wiki. We'll be happy to add you
as an editor if you let us know your Wiki username. If you haven't already
created an account, you can do so at
https://stackoverflow.com/help/minimal-reproducible-example.

Once we know the account name someone can add you fairly quickly (though
the team are all volunteers, so it may take a little longer than this
response).

Kind regards,
Steve Holden

Please don't remove Python2 material, but instead move it to a
Python 2 section or add a note that a page refers to Python 2 rather
than Python 3.

Pointing users to the wiki info section to retrieve this information
is *not* a good idea.

Please also note that while maintenance of Python 2 by the core
dev team will stop, there still is a large user base out there using it
and this will continue for at least another decade given how much code
has been written for Python 2, which will not be ported to Python 3.

We don't want to lose the existing Python 2 knowledge kept in the wiki.

Thanks,

I'm afraid I can't answer that question: I'm getting a 404 for your
posting, but posting 4063 comes through fine.

Maybe someone on the maintainers list will be able to shed some light. I'm
forwarding the query there.

I take it you've checked your spam folder for any messages that might have
gone astray? The Jobs Board is mostly automated as far as I understand it.
