someone from Microsoft is asking (by mailing webmaster) this because of
a project he's putting together for kids, and wants to be sure what he
writes up will actually work. I've never heard of there being anything
that would check, or any reason to check for that matter, but he seems
eager to have an absolute definitive answer.

AFAIK, there are no such checks anywhere on our websites.

getting gateway errors

relevant page

https://wiki.python.org/moin/PyQt/Handling%20Qt%27s%20internal%20item%20MIME%20type

Hi Gary,

these are load related errors which we cannot do anything much
about at the moment.

Please try again after a few hours.

Thanks,

Yes, that is what I need; in order to get full editing permission,
that account needs to be flagged as a legit real user. We can do that
for you; the main thing is to let us know what your account name is.

Cool. You should now have access.

Use this power responsibly; be sure to be courteous to all the others
who have listed their own curricula, and don't detract from theirs by
the way you word your own listing. As long as everyone's respectful of
everyone, everything's fine :)

All the best!

Go to the page you want to edit, and make sure you're logged in. On
the sidebar to the left, you should see "Edit (Text)" and "Edit
(GUI)". Either of those should help you do what you want.

That page says:

#acl Known:read,write,revert All:read

What exactly does that mean, and is there a reason that the beginners

Known is a special group containing all logged in users.

I've removed the ACL completely now, so that the page uses the
default settings.

add my own book.
About four years ago, I started writing an free, open-source, online Python
book in Farsi that is still up to date.
This book is listed at https://wiki.python.org/moin/PersianLanguage, But I
would like to be on PersianPythonBooks page.

Thank you for your quick response.
The GUI Programming in Python & GuiProgramming pages and then I thought I'd
look at the SiteImprovements page Wiki Content for some stuff to work on.

Cool! The assistance will be appreciated.

You should now be able to make edits; if you have any trouble, check

Hello,

I've been working with Sumana Harihareswara and Changeset Consulting
to update the wiki for the 2->3 transition. I'd like to make some
stronger recommendations and clarify some of the instructions in
https://wiki.python.org/moin/BeginnersGuide/Download, but I don't have
permissions. Could someone either make that page editable by normal
editors or grant me permissions to make changes on that page? I
noticed that the ACL on https://wiki.python.org/moin/BeginnersGuide
was recently relaxed, so it might make more sense to make this one
match.

Thank you,
Frances (FrancesHocutt on wiki/fhocutt on Freenode)

Agreed. I've reset the download page to default permissions. If
there's a problem with that, it can be reverted.

Message-ID: <20191029223036.GA27848@localhost>

Dear All,

I was wondering if it might be possible to add the name of my company to this page [0].

Reckon Digital is a London-based software company that specialises in Python and Django. As part of the work we do for some of our clients, we regularly maintain and/or refactor large Python codebases - sometimes this involves migrating from Python 2 to 3.

If you think this might be relevant in the context of [0], I would be glad to add Reckon Digital (https://reckondigital.com/) to the list. I assume this would require me to be given (temporary) permissions as a wiki editor?

Kindly let me know if any other information about Reckon Digital is needed.

All the best,

Fabio.

Would you take on a client who specifically says "hey, we have this
Python 2 codebase, can you help us port it to Python 3?", with no
prior involvement with that client? If so, then yes, it would be
entirely appropriate to add your company's name to that list. And
you're right that this would require you to be given wiki editing
permissions; we don't deal in temporary permissions, so you'd retain
the ability to make changes afterwards as well (handy if you want to
change your link, or you can make other edits to other pages). All
we'd need is your wiki user name.

I forgot to mention that my wiki account is `reckondigital` by the way.

Thanks and best,

Fabio.

Hi ChrisA,

Thanks for your quick reply.

Yes, that definitely falls within the realm of projects we'd be able to work on.

My wiki user name is `reckondigital`.

Thanks again, all best,

Fabio.

Cool! You now have editing access, so you can add your entry. (I
believe that page is maintained in alphabetical order, so do please
respect that.) Thank you for helping to bring the world to Python 3,
and all the best!

Message-ID: <5db8c933.1c69fb81.a2a35.1880@mx.google.com>

Hello,

I was wondering if I could get edit permission (or have someone else make this minor change) to alter this page: https://wiki.python.org/moin/PythonConsulting/Python%202%20support%20and%20migration

So that the link to ?ActiveState? redirects to this one instead, with more information on ActiveState?s Python 2 support: ?https://www.activestate.com/products/activepython/python-2-7/?

My account name is KatieChang.

Thank you,
Katie

Ah, awesome. Thank you for finding that link. You should have editing
access and can make that change (and any others that you find in the
future - this is permanent access). Very much appreciate your help in
keeping the wiki active and useful!

This page is a little funky:

https://wiki.python.org/moin/WebFrameworks

It's divided into multiple sections:

Popular Full-Stack
Other Full-Stack
Popular Non Full-Stack
Other Non Full-Stack
Discontinued/Inactive

the first section is a table
the second section starts as a table, then has more entries as a list
the rest are lists

(btw in the first section one entry tries (apparently) to implement a
list in one of the table cells, but that doesn't work in moin unless you
load an add-on macro which we don't, apparently, have - see
https://moinmo.in/MacroMarket/MiniPage - and that needs special syntax
anyway)

Is this inconsistent appearance intentional, or is just the result of
organic growth over time? Who decides "popular" vs "other"? (hard to
disagree with the three in Popular Full-Stack!). Is there any real value
to keeping the discontinued ones?

I find the page too busy to be very useful, in common with a few others
where too many entries is as unfortunate as too few, but I'm not finding
myself motivated to spend tons of time cleaning it up; Web Frameworks
aren't my space anyway. Would splitting it into two pages, like we do
with Python Editors vs IDEs, be worthwhile? I ended up taking a look
because someone (without the inclination to do edits themselves, sigh)
emailed webmaster to suggest that Masonite needed a link on the website,
and I suggested we could start with the Wiki...
